Some models of Apple Inc.'s iPhone and iPad products are facing a ban after a ruling that they violate Samsung patents.

The U.S. International Trade Commission ruled that Apple Inc. infringed upon a Samsung Electronic patent in specific iPhone and iPad models, according to a Reuters report cited by Silicon Valley Business Journal.

The commission said Apple must cease selling AT&T models of its iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and older models of its iPad.

The order needs presidential approval. Reuters says the review will be sent to President Barack Obama, who has 60 days to review and either approve or veto the order.

"The Commission has determined that the appropriate remedy is a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order prohibiting Apple from importing into the United States or selling or distributing within the United States wireless communication devices, portable music and data processing devices, and tablet computers that infringe (specific patents)," the filing states.
