AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Because of its rapid growth,?Specialized Therapy Services?has made the?ICIC's?Inner City 100 List?for the second year in a row.

The small business focuses on speech, occupational and physical therapy for children up to the age of 21.? Founded 12 years ago with only two employees, STS has blossomed into a successful business with 69 employees, 26 therapists and seven certified teachers.

"It was more than I could ever have dreamed for," STS President/CEO Karen Day said,?"that we are faith-based and that we do commit our success to really treating our patients just like they would want to be treated- like part of our family."

The company Initiative for a Competitive Inner City combs the United States each year to find businesses that have made impressive growth.? After sending in one of more than 2,000 applications submitted across the country, STS was chosen as one of the 100 recognized businesses.

"Boston- Harvard University- we spent a day there having lectures with other entrepreneurs about business and how to grow your business," Day stated.? "And we were number 36 on that list of 100 Fastest-Growing Businesses in the United States in the Inner City."

STS was named to the list in 2011 and after making it again in 2012, Day added some of?the ambition for her business is dependent upon the economy.

"Our goal right now in the tough economic times that have come down with the changes in Medicaid, Medicare and insurance is to sustain the business that we have and the services that we have with the quality that we've always provided."

According to Day, the Amarillo community has been supportive of her business.? STS will continue to take part in community activities that will help spread the word about its services and hopefully help to improve the lives of more autistic children.
