Sports briefs: Fresno Pacific clears another NCAA step

Fresno Pacific received notification Friday that it has completed the second year of the NCAA Division II membership process, with one more year to go before gaining full recognition including access to the association's postseason competitions.

Sunbirds teams were eligible for conference titles this past season, but ineligible for NCAA postseason play until receiving full membership.

The full process should be complete by July 2104. Fresno Pacific rejoined the National Christian College Athletic Association last year to provide postseason play in the interim.
